Year 7 and 8 Music Research Lessons
(Instruments of the Orchestra Study)
“Meet the Orchestra” is a fun way to introduce kids to the instruments of the orchestra. Complete this study guide researching the “Meet the Orchestra” index at https://makingmusicfun.net/htm/mmf-music-library-meet-the-orchestra-index.php to hunt for the facts
Click on the links below, you will find out information on each of the instruments of the orchestra. You job is to find answers to the "Meet The Orchestra Scavenger Hunt" booklets.
Once you have completed the research for all 4 sections of the orchestra, choose an instrument, and prepare a presentation to share with your class.
Your presentation should include images of your instrument; the history of your instrument, who to play your instrument, the reason you researched that particular instrument, an audio/video clip of your instrument being played, and 5 further facts.

1. Explore all the different parts of "The Music Lab". Play/learn the different aspects of Music Theory through these pages, and answer the questions on your student worksheet. You can chose to print this and physically draw, or put your answers in digitally with apps like "Kami". This will give you a great basic understanding of Music Theory (the important language of Music).
This same website has a glimpse into the "Instruments Of The Orchestra" as well. Do you know all the instruments? Have a look.
As a fun additional task, visit "Radio" button/tab, and listen to the different radio stations. What song do you like most, and why? Does it make you think or feel a particular way?
